LANCASTER TOWN HALL // ALISON & MICHAEL

“Neither of us are particularly comfortable having our photographs taken – but Megan quickly put both ourselves (and our family and friends at their ease). She managed to get great natural photos whilst being unobtrusive: We knew we could relax as we were in such safe hands.”

After 33 years together, Alison and Michael decided it was time. Their wedding day was simple, thoughtful and full of personality exactly like them. With a ceremony at Lancaster Town Hall followed by a relaxed village fete style reception at Silverdale Village Institute, the day felt personal, unfussy and well worth the wait.

A Low Key Proposal in the Lake District

The decision to get married came unexpectedly. Alison & Michael had always said it wasn’t something they needed to do. However, as time passed, Alison changed her mind. She realised that life is short and she wanted to make the most of it. On a hike through the Lake District, Alison secretly packed a bottle of champagne which she carried for seven miles! She waited for the right moment and proposed. Instead of a gold ring, she offered an onion ring crisp to seal the deal.

Ceremony at Lancaster Town Hall

The day started at Lancaster Town Hall, a striking building with classical architecture and plenty of character. It is a brilliant setting for anyone who prefers something a little more formal without it feeling over the top. The ceremony was relaxed and full of so much joy, with only their nearest and dearest looking on.

A Village Fete Reception in Silverdale

After the ceremony, everyone headed to Silverdale Village Institute, just in time for the most perfect golden hour. We stopped by a natural spring en route and found the most beautiful patch of wild garlic. This was a location that Alison & Michael love, so capturing their couples portraits here felt extra special. At the institute, the couple played garden games, bunting fluttered and people spread out across the green with drinks in hand. The light was magical and suited the tone of the reception perfectly.
